BOB'S BLOG 13th SEPTEMBER 2016

It goes without saying that the 35th Anniversary of the Gympie Music Muster was one massive four day birthday celebration. The Gympie Music Muster ran from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 August 2016 with Australia's best country music talent at one event for four spectacular days and nights, the 35th celebration of the Gympie Music Muster 2016 was unforgettable. With this year's headliners included some of the biggest stars of country music in Australia and abroad featuring:  Kasey Chambers, John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, Beccy Cole, The McClymonts, Rodney Carrington, Sara Storer, Gord Bamford, Warren H. Williams, Drew McAlister, Caitlyn Shadbolt and many more.

The pure and simple fact of the matter? After more than 25 years, Dolly Parton has a Billboard No. 1 album, Pure & Simple. The Tennessee songstress topped the charts for the first time since her album Eagle When She Flies peaked at No. 1 in May 1991.

A little more than a year since Cam became a force to be reckoned with on the country music scene with the release of her smash hit, "Burning House." She has since been nominated for ACM and CMA awards, played the stage with some of country's biggest stars and released the third single from her Untamed album, "Mayday." Cam is taking one more step forward in her rising career by headlining her very own The Burning House Tour.

Kelsea Ballerini is on the verge of making country music history! If her latest single, "Peter Pan"—which is currently sitting in the No. 3 spot—hits the top of the Billboard charts in the coming weeks, Kelsea will become the first female artist to have her first three singles from her debut album reach No. 1.

Carrie Underwood will not only have co-hosting duties with Brad Paisley for the 9th consecutive year at the CMA Awards in November, but she'll be a multiple nominee, as she is up for  Female Vocalist Of The Year, Musical Event Of The Year with Keith Urban for their song "The Fighter," Album Of The Year (Storyteller), and Entertainer Of The Year. The CMA Awards will be celebrating their 50th year, when the show airs on Wednesday, November 2nd. Carrie Underwood is known for her songs that portray women who don't shy away from getting revenge when they've been wronged. "Dirty Laundry" is the newest addition to that list. Once again Carrie sings about a woman who is fed up and takes things into her own hands, but Carrie does say that while it's an empowering song it is a "definite new take on it, and a new twist on it."

Dolly Parton's brand new album Pure & Simple (the 43rd studio album of her legendary career) has a very interesting creation story. It started with Dolly planning a tour, and it was a tour that was more about getting back to the basics than amping things up, so with the idea of a pure and simple tour, that became its name. Dolly figured that if she had a tour called Pure & Simple, she might as well have an album to go along with the tour, which she'd also call Pure & Simple and of course, if you have a tour and an album named Pure & Simple, you definitely need a song called "Pure and Simple!" After deciding that an album was needed, Dolly started to come up with song ideas-and sparked by own own marriage, and the recent celebration of it reaching the 50 year mark back in May, Dolly decided to focus the music on the subject of love. Dolly cover the spectrum of love, she says "I think I touched on every kind of love there ever was on this album. Sweet love, precious love, cheatin' love, friends-with-benefits love, oh any kind of love you wanna talk about, or know about or think about I think I got it in this album."

David Nail has announced his new single, "Good at Tonight." It's the second single off Fighter, the country singer's fourth studio album, and features Brothers Osborne.  "Good at Tonight" is the first track on Nail's new album, as a single, it follows "Night's on Fire.

Have a great week!
Bob Taylor.
