BOBíS BLOG 24TH MAY 2016 Posted: Tue 24th May 2016 - 14:05

Like the title of her brand new album Midwest Farmer's Daughter suggests, Margo Price  grew up in the tiny Midwestern town of Aledo, Illonois which is also the home of '90s country star & family friend Suzy Bogguss. Before recording her new album, Margo recorded 3 independently released albums with her band, Buffalo Clover, whose bass player is her husband, Jeremy Ivey. Margo has a new song out "Hurtin 'on the bottle, she was little tipsy when she wrote it after knocking back some whiskey.

One of Stereo 974's most requested songs, "Friends" by Blake Shelton. Watch the video, you'll love it! Blake is also playing a loveable pig in the Angry Birds movie. In the video that features sneak appearances by Blake's feathered friends, Red, Chuck, Stella, Bomb & the Mighty Eagle, Blake sings about friendships that last through thick & thin.

Willie Nelson's annual Fourth of July Picnic will return to Circuit of the Americas' Austin360 Amphitheatre  for the second year in a row in 2016 & Willie already has a star studded list of guests lined up for the party. In 2015, Nelson's yearly picnic came back to Austin, Texas, for the first time in 5 years. This year, for the event's 43rd year, more than 20 acts are booked to play on two stages, including Brantley Gilbert, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson with Alison Krauss, Lee Ann Womack, Asleep at the Wheel, Billy Joe Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, David Allan Coe & Margo Price. A   fireworks display will commemorate the show (after all, it's the Fourth of July!).

Keith Urban has a lot to celebrate, his newest studio record, Ripcord, has debuted at No. 1 in the U.S., Canada & Australia & it's set a record, too! Ripcord is Urban's second album to top the charts in those three countries during its debut week & that's something that no other male country artist has ever done. With Ripcord, Urban has earned his fifth No. 1 album so far, he's also celebrated two No. 1 songs, the 19th & 20th of his career, respectively with his first two singles from the project, "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" & "Break on Me." Urban's newest single, "Wasted Time," meanwhile, has given him his 36th consecutive Top 10 song. The singer holds the record for the most consecutive Top 10 songs on the Billboard Country Airplay chart; his streak began in August of 2000.

Craig Morgan will celebrate the release of his upcoming new album with a free concert at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon during the week of the 2016 CMA Music Festival. Morgan's new project, titled A Whole Lot More to Me, is set for release on June 3. Morgan co-wrote five of the 12 tracks on A Whole Lot More to Me, enlisting the help of some of the best songwriters in Music City, including Eric Paslay, Shane McAnally & others, to help. The singer has already released the first single off of the album, "When I'm Gone," as well as a second track, "I'll Be Home Soon."

Dierks Bentley has landed the 14th No. 1 song of his career with "Somewhere on a Beach," his newest single. The gold certified tune is the fastest rising single of Bentley's career so far. The singer admits that fans' response to the single is exactly what he wanted, but he's still surprised at how quickly the track made its way to the top of the charts.

"Somewhere on a Beach" is the first single from Bentley's upcoming eighth studio album, Black, which is due out on May 27. In addition to "Somewhere on a Beach," you have already been able to hear "I'll Be the Moon," featuring Maren Morris & "What the Hell Did I Say" from the new project. . On your favourite Radio station!

When you pick up Brad Paisley's next album, you'll get a whole lot of country with a few top notch collaborators, including Mick Jagger. The Rolling Stones frontman & several others make appearances on his forthcoming 11th studio record.

Stereo 974 listeners' are already familiar with Paisley's collaboration with Demi Lovato, "Without a Fight," but the Brad is no stranger to Jagger either. Paisley opened for the Rolling Stones last year & John Fogerty joined Paisley during a concert in 2013.

Maren Morris has reason to celebrate, her debut single, "My Church," has gone gold.  "My Church" comes from Morris' self titled EP, which was released in early November & reached No. 1 on Billboard's Albums Chart in January. The song will also be on Morris' debut album, Hero, which is set for release in June. Maren will join Keith Urban & Brett Eldredge on the road, as part of Urban's 2016 RipCORD World Tour. The trek is set to begin on June 2.

Check out the new album by Travis Collins featuring "Just another Girl" & "Hometown Calling". Two standout tracks that are being featured right now on Stereo 974.

Have a great week!
Bob Taylor.
